There are 6 weeks left before summer vacation, and we still do not know if we are moving to Norway, staying in Paris or moving back to Africa!
Oh well - what's the hurry...
Anyway, it made me look through some photos I would like to share with you.
Enjoy!
Christmas 2005 we went to South Luangwa National Park in Zambia
"Experts have dubbed South Luangwa as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, and not without reason. The concentration of game around the Luangwa river and it’s ox bow lagoons is among the most intense in Africa"
On the road from Malawi to Mfuwe Game reserve. Oldest son asked us to stop the car, in the middle of the bush, on the dirt road. He saw a turtle. We were happy just to stop and look at it from the window. But before we new it he was out of the car to grab the turtle.
I was more anxious about what else could be lurking around in the bush - much bigger and much stronger than a turtle!
So I had to go out of the car as well to protect my child...
Finally there. Youngest son sitting patiently in the reception waiting for the keys. Wondering why the reception was this enormous. Huge doors and high ceilings.
Well, this was the answer
How cool is that!
They built the reception were the elephants had their naturally pathway. So they made the reception big enough both for the guests AND the elephants. This was not a daily sight and we did not see them walking through the reception, but we did see them passing our lodge

We had Richard as our regular guide for our daily game drives.
He had dinner at our table every night, and told the most incredible stories. He was born in the area and his sister was taken by a hyena...
From the game drive. We could see the crocodiles in this river. You can to, if you click on the photo. It was hard se them when they did not move. I do not like crocodiles very much...
This guy is ok. I do not mind him at all!
I think our dear middle son is watching the wild boar.
You know, Pumba
"It's our problem-free philosophy, Hakuna Matata!"
They were so cool! Running around, chasing each other - just for fun. They show absolutely no elegance at all, but are so funny. And curious. You can see it in the picture above. They stop for a minute to look at us, and then they start running around again and enjoyng every moment of the day.
I like them:-)
After driving around watching Lions, Zebras, Giraffes and monkeys,
we came to this surprise
The Mfuwe Lodge had made a lunch for us in the middle of the bush. Next to the crocodiles and hippos. With lions, snakes and leopards around us.
But they left us alone (thank you dear God!) And we enjoyed the most wonderful and memorable lunch ever.
A warm youngest son watching the Zebras. I like Zebras:-)
And the Giraffes. OMG they are SO TALL!!! But I like them to...
I do not like the Hippos. They are vegetarians, but they kill anything - just for fun.
"The hippopotamus is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often regarded as the most ferocious animal in Africa"
After seeing most of the animals during daylight, our guide kindly asks us if we wanted to go for a game drive - by night to try to find the leopards.
After only a few meters into the bush and the dark was so black that we could not see anything else than the spotlight that our guide held to look after the leopard, I could not do it anymore. Here I was in the darkest night ever, with my three children, in a car with no doors, windows or roof, among the lions, Hippos, Hyenas, Crocodiles and snakes - looking for the leopard in the treetops obove our heads...
So I said STOP! You need to take us home NOW! The guide asked my husband if I was joking, which he could confirm I was not.
So me and the two youngest boys and my mother went home, while my dad, husband and oldest son went back in to the bush...
And they DID see the Leopard!
Good Night, and Hakuna Matata!
